Finally...Something on the Wall!

My walls have been empty and I've been dying to put something up. It's just been so hard to figure out how I want everything to look. I also don't like putting a bunch of holes in the wall! Well I finally put something up. I've been working on a couple of projects for the house and here is the first.

I love writing out our meals for the week. I also get tired of everyone asking me, "what's for dinner?"
Solution: Menu chalkboard

This is what it looked like when I picked it up from the thrift store. I got really lucky and found an out-dated chalkboard. So I sanded, painted and added some vinyl.
I really love the way it turned out!
Wait till you see my next project (in the works)! Stay tuned!

Can't Keep It To Myself

Here's my latest project.

It was so much fun to make. I made it for a friend, who is giving it for a bridal gift. Next I'll be making myself one!
I also have plans for some new chore charts. The kids are gonna love me!
And while I'm at it why not a menu board!
That's just to name a few projects up my sleeves.
Stay stuned!

Remember...

Remember my big project? Well I'm finally finished and can tell you about it. I was busy making "7" quilts! Yes, 7! There are 6 kids and I made one for my Dad, too.
Memory quilts. My Mom always wanted to make each of us a quilt, but she was too sick. My Dad and I talked and said it would be nice to get them made for Christmas for my siblings. Well I took it a step further and made my Dad and myself one also. And so you have 7 quilts!
I did have a lot of help and I just need to say Thank you to all that helped. Some ladies from church found out what I was about to attempt and they said they would help. Also I teach the 12-13 girls at church and they were more than excited to help. Here are a what a couple of them looked like.

Every quilt had 4 photos, 3 the same and one with them and my Mom.
I believe that they were well received!
Whoo, I'm tired now!

My Try At...

Okay so I decided to try and make the famous "crayon rolls". I made 4 of them for my nephews. Actually I made 5 the first was a trial run, with little errors. I didn't want to give that one away so I re-made it. I also made some bookmarks with the left over fabric. It was a lot of fun! I hope they enjoy them!
I think I'm actually getting the hang of this sewing thing! LOL!

Something New!

So I took some time to make some more bows last night. I've been promising my niece that I would make her a purple bow. I made two and told her she could pick. Which one would you pick?
Next I'm going to try a more difficult bow. Wish me luck.
FYI- my Grandma comes in tomorrow and we'll be sewing all weekend. Can't wait.

Side note:
Last night I was at a meeting for leaders of youth. It was good! We were given reminders of why we're doing what we're doing. These young people need models, guidance and support. That's what we are.
It was also good to hear that we need to take them back to basics. Teach them (young women) how to cook, sew, manage a family. It seems that as time goes on we are losing that. I was glad to hear that. Even though I use to be one of those girls not wanting to cook and sew. I now am paying for it. I'm learning, AGAIN, to cook and sew.
Well have a great weekend!

School Project

Well Mateo had a project due today. I was not looking forward to this one at all. We had to make a volcano! I knew it would not be easy. Of course the instructions made it seem easy.
We used a dough recipe instead of the old paper mache. I thought it would be fun to have our hands in something. Boy, was I wrong. The recipe called for a CUP of salt. So while are hands were in the mixture they started to burn. Our skin, started to burn! It was not fun, because we had to finish building.
It seemed that this dough was not hardening. It kept slopping and we had to keep molding it.
I am so glad this project is done! Here are some pics!

Gobble, Gobble

Well here they are. It was a little messy with the feathers and the glue takes a little bit to dry. It was just fun to be creative! I got the name cards from this site http://www.daniellesplace.com/html/thanksgiving.html

New Craft in the works!

This is one of the turkey crafts I will attempt to have the kiddies make tonight. I plan on using all foam, no wreath. I also want to make some placecards for Thanksgiving since we will have at least 18 people here for dinner. Wish me luck!

New Project

So my Grandma has been asking me to make some bows for her store in Utah. I finally sat down and began. here's what I did this afternoon. I'm trying to decide if the flowers look good on the bow or without. What do you think? I'm sure it will be fine either way. Next I'm going to do curly corkscrew bows. Post those soon.
Note: it is so hard to get two to look a like.
