Mrs.Trouble

Or should I say "in to trouble"!
I left her alone for 10-15 minutes and I find her in the bathroom. She was washing off the chapstick she put on her feet. Amazing how she knew to fill the sink and plug it. I already knew she could climb up on the counter.
I just can't leave her alone!

New Floor!

Well we had a new floor put in my Mom's kitchen and front entry yesterday. It took all day! I had to keep the kids out of the house, so we went to the park, lunch and Samantha's. Thanks to all who kept us busy!
When I got back I decided to try and help grout the tile, here are some pics!
Heads-up Tip:
Once you've grouted there can't be any traffic on the floor for 24 hours and no furniture for 48 hrs. What! This house has 11 people in it!
If we knew that we would of sent everyone on vacation!

LDS Women site!

LDS Our Ladies Room
I found this website it's pretty cool! You can meet ladies around the world who are LDS. Thought you might like to know about it!

Sew Like The Wind!

Do you remember "the 3 amigos"?
When the ladies are sewing the costumes and they said "sew like the wind"!
We were saying it all week. We're just about done w/ the dresses.
Grandma just went home today, Thanks Grandma!
While we were sewing the nice, expensive machine froze up.
So we had to pull out the old fashion one! It still works!

Schools Back!

School starts next week. We got most of the shopping done and we just went to the school to pick up the schedules. Mateo is in the 6th grade and at the middle school with Kenny. We were dreading his schedule because we had issues with some 6th grade teachers. We got so lucky; not on our schedule, yeah!
Kenny is now in the 8th grade, that is just amazing! My BABY! I can not believe next year he will be in high school.
As of this moment I am also done with elementary for 3 years. Unbelievable!
Well here's to the new school year!=)

Yum-O!

My Grandma just got in for a quick visit. We needed her to save us from these dresses. We need 5 dresses made for the wedding on the 30th and they're not done.
It's Grandma to the rescue!
Since she's here, we also get GOOD food! How about homemade tortillas, YUM!
Christina and Mateo had a blast helping! I had to take some photos!
Here's also a pick from the park, too cute!

Still Round!

So this might be too much info but why do I still feel like a round, plump chica?
Over the past eight months I've lost 25-30 lbs and dropped 2 cup sizes, I should be jumping for joy, right?
I'm not! I don't feel like I've lost any weight. When I look at myself I still see a round face and body.
Where is my cute little, hourglass body?
Well I guess I should just be happy my hubby likes and enjoys my body no matter what size! LOL!

Magnetics!

This is what the kids are stuck on lately, even Christina! We've had these for years and now they are just pulling them out and using them.
Actually Christina found them and the craze began.
I had them hidden for awhile because I was worried about "someone" eating them.
Did you see that House episode, where the boy ate all the magnets?
Wasn't a good thing!

New dress+New hair do= Cousin Quality Time!

I took the kids school shopping and Christina got a new dress. (check out Fallas in VV, Alamo Center- great finds!)
My niece came over and played dress up with Christina. They had a blast and I never knew her hair could go in 2 ponytails. They were so cute I had to take pics!

Girlfriends...Come and Go!

Well Kenny picked a great girl but his cute, little puppy love has ended!
Kenny: Mom I"ve gotta tell you something!
Me: (Gulp!) "Okay" (thinking- what could it be)
Kenny: We've broken up!
Me: How are you?
Kenny: I"m good, it was fun! Mom...I don't think I'm going to do the back to back thing!
Me: That's smart, just wait for the real NICE ones! (Whoo!)
I've raised a real SMART guy!

All-Stars, Moving, Weddings, etc...

Well so much has happened, where do I start?
All-Stars ended quick for Kenny and his team. This was Kenny's 3rd time on All-Stars and will be his last for little league. He will be in Babe-Ruth next year! He's getting so much older!
I just dropped him off at 4:45 AM this morning to go to camp for a WEEK! I'm just dying to know how he is doing and I miss his sweet face. I know that he will have a great experience.
Moving went as well as could be expected! We're out of our rental and back at my Mom's (for the 3rd time). Still looking for our first home to purchase. "Where are you, little house"?
Weddings are always a blast to attend but this one was double the pleasure! My friend's daughter got married and they asked me to do the photos, my first professional wedding! I was so scared! It turned out great and was a pleasure to attend and photograph!
Quilt Making was something I thought old women did but now I'm so juiced at learning the skill. I took a class up at the church and I'm working on Christina's princess quilt. Next will be the boys quilts. Here's my new hobby!
The ER is never fun! Well I was just there at 3 AM with Mateo and his horrible asthma cough. He's had two breathing treatments in the past four days. It's finally under control with some oral steroids. The doctor is sure to explain to him that "it won't make you buff", thank you Barry Bonds! I still don't think I've caught up in those 5 lost hours of sleep!
Well I think that's just about it. It's been a crazy couple weeks, I'm glad it is finally over! Back to normal, I hope!

Words, Words, Words!

Well we started speech for Christina and it's going great! It's only been a couple of weeks and right away she started major jibber jaber! She's just talking away in her language, means she's trying. Then the other day she actually said a two word sentence, "Mom, Move"!
We couldn't believe it, finally a sentence! Of course we would of been more happy if she added "Please"!
I am not complaining!
Now she's saying, "help", along w/ the sign(ing) and "all done" (w/ sign). YEAH!
We have progress!

Moving Right Along!

Well we found a house and put an offer on it!
I always said I wouldn't live in Suisun (windy city), but it just might happen. Well at least I won't have to run my AC as much, that's a plus! I'll let you know in a couple of weeks if we got it!

Great News!

Kenny made All-Stars! This is his 3rd season making the team. He's so excited! Unfortunately Mateo did not. We were so hoping this would be the year for him. Hopefully next year! He played so well this year. He's had a tough year; inexperienced coach, loses over wins, not wanting to play. Well I had many talks with him about hanging in there and we won't always work with someone we like or get along with.
Sorry but at this age that's really hard to understand!
Well stay tuned for game updates!

So Exhausting!

Who knew house hunting was so time-consuming! Ken just keeps reminding me "that 20 years ago they HAD to go look at every house, at least we have the internet to help us narrow it down".
We're still trying to decide which city and school would be best or that we could deal with. I remember when the kids were little we could live just about anywhere and it didn't matter. Now we have to worry about what schools their attending, where they will get the best education and not be in danger.
It's so scary not knowing where we'll be in a few months. I know I'm not the only one going through that, right now.
What's more frustrating is that finally we get to look at homes and most of them are bank owned and ruined.
The other day we thought we found "The House" and then we got a glimpse of the neighbors...Hoodlums, Gangster! No WAY!
Well the search goes on!

Monday, June 09, 2008

Homeowners? Hmm, Maybe!

Well I don't know what we're doing but we are looking at the possibility of purchasing a home. Why, not when your mortgage can be the same as rent right now! It is so scary! We talked to a loan officer and we will be meeting our realtor this week.
Well if it's meant to be, it's meant to be!
*Please bear with me as I may have a lot of "down" time! I'm told that this can be a very emotional time and you know me, "Emotional"!

Summer Fruit

Just 3 of the 4 fruit trees in my backyard. I just thought it was amazing to see them (apple, apricot, grapes) in their beginning stages. We probably won't be around to see the end product. Although we did get to enjoy the "Sour" oranges/tangerines!

3.9!

I can't believe it, we actually had an earthquake that we could actually feel. So many times they say there was an earthquake and I never feel it.
We were all home and in the kitchen and the whole house seemed to shift with a loud sound! The boys finally get to know what it's like to be in an earthquake. Christina was just doing her thing and didn't even know it happened.
I remember my first one back in the late 80's in Pasadena. I was visiting my aunt and we were home alone. This was an OLD house and everything shook and walls came falling down. I had never experienced one before and I told everyone to run outside. Later I was told you should stay inside.
What an experience that was! I wasn't in California when the quake of "89 happened. I missed it by 2-3 months.
I'm glad there was no serious damage just an experience this time!

My boys are getting older!

Yep, Kenny made it home okay and had a blast! I tried my best all day not to think about him being gone too much, it helped.
Well he had his first big experience away from home, unsupervised. I think it went well for the both of us.
I'm getting better at this. Just in time, too. Mateo is coming up to middle school...agh!
My boys are getting so old! I just want to keep them young and cute. I can't imagine in two years Kenny will be a freshman!
At least I still have my 2 year old...who's turning 3 soon! Whah!
I'm okay, really!

A Great Conference!

Well I didn't make it to temple night, I didn't make it to saturday session,
but I did make it the special sunday session with Elder Richard Hinckley!
It was for a small group and I thought we qualified. As you know Kenny was at Great America Saturday and got home late. That wasn't going to stop me.
I did get some complaints when I woke them up at 7am but I quickly explained to them the special opportunity they had.
"You will remember this day for the rest of your life", I told them.
Not many people get the chance to be face to face with an apostle. We were even able to shake his hand at the end. Great experience!
Then we went straight to the regular session. What an inspirational day!
I believe the boys now believe that it was well worth it to lose some sleep.

Secretly, Freaking Out!

Anyone who knows me well, knows I can't handle it when my kids are on field trips. I've gotten better over the last few years. So when they go on a trip to Vacaville or Suisun I don't freak out but if they go farther like Sacramento or San Francisco, it's a little hard.
I use to go on all their field trips but when I had Christina it just wasn't possible. When I was pregnant with Christina, Kenny was going to Alcatraz and Angel Island. I didn't know what I was going to do. It was impossible for me to go, Ken was working but Uncle John was available.
Yep, I sent Uncle John.
I just don't like the idea of my kids being on buses with no seat belts and crossing bridges.
Well today Kenny is off to Great America, San Jose. He left at 7am and won't be back till 9 or 10pm. I'm trying to make the day go as fast as possible. Ken is also gone at a softball tournament. So it's just Mateo, Christina and me.
I slept in till 10am, bike riding at noon, visit Mom at 3pm.... what else can I do to keep my mind off it.
He's a good kid, he's a good kid...he'll be safe, he'll be safe...he's okay, he's okay!
I'm doing okay really, 6 hours down, 8 more to go!

Memorial Day Fun

We had fun filled day together! We went out to the Nut Tree and rode some rides, had lunch at Fenton's and then I went scrappin'. Of course I didn't get much done but I'm a little closer than I was before! Enjoy the pics!

Who Doesn't Love A Puppy!

My brother's dogs just had a puppy. He is so cute! I just had to take pics! He's a sheba inu. He's 6 weeks old and no name yet.

Little Mommy

We got this kitchen set from freecycle.org and Christina has been having a blast with it. It's the best find yet! She loves to cook, clean house and dishes with me and so here is her own little kitchen (with phone). When I took this picture she was having a conversation with someone, just like Mommy does. She kept giving me food and drink and placing orders for ice cream. So cute!
It was in inside but the previous owners kept it outside and it stinks. So back outside it goes until it loses the stinch.

It's Our Anniversary!

13 years! Yep!
We just went to a movie (Iron Man), dinner (Hungry Hunter) and shopping! It was great!
The movie was great, food was awesome and shopping always fun!

But all that really doesn't add up to the great life I've had with my husband and three kids! We've been through a lot together and there were times we weren't sure we were gonna make it. We did!
I really can't imagine myself with any other man (I've tried-at times)
but it just isn't the same.
I need him to keep me true to myself.

He lets me be me.
He makes me laugh.
We think a like without even talking.
In true Jerry Macguire fashion; He completes me!
And I him! I always tell him, "I know what your thinking even before your thinking it"!
It may have been a long and hard road but that's what makes it all worth it-
the fight for something!
Plus, if I didn't have him, I wouldn't have my three beautiful children!
Thank you Ken and I love you Unconditionally!

Yum-O, Bread!

I made banana bread yesterday and it was yummy! I've never made my own. I've just always enjoyed others. Like I've said, "Me, bake"? Hey I'm getting pretty good at this whole cooking/baking thing! LOL!
Next I'm going to try zucchini bread. Why not I've got a bunch of it in the fridge, gotta do somethin' with it!
While I was looking for bread recipes I found this interesting pie recipe. Maybe you'll be interested, like I am, in trying it.

Banana Bread Pie
2 ripe bananas, sliced
1/2 cup bisquick
2 eggs
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 tblsp butter melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
vanilla ice cream

Preheat oven to 400. spray pie pan. place bananas in large bowl and mix till smooth(need 1 cup).
Add bisquick mix , eggs, milk, butter and vanilla. mix until well blended. Scrape batter into pie pan and smooth.
Bake pie until it is well caramelized on top and firm around the edge but still a little soft in the center (25-30 mins). Remove pie from oven and let rest for 30 mins. before slicing. Serve it warm with vanilla ice cream!
Sounds Yummy, I'll be trying that!

I'm a Dork!

I locked myself out of my house this morning! I couldn't believe it! I grabbed Christina and our bag (glad I didn't forget Christina), walked out the front door and no keys in hand!
Well I had to be at workout cause I had the key to the building; got a ride there and back.
*Grateful for cell phones
Now I'm sitting at my Mom's waiting for someone to help get me my key.
Glad I don't have to be anywhere important!
*Oh, my schedule has just been pushed back about 2 hours!
Nothing big, right!

The Burp-abet!

I forgot to blog about Mateo's great accomplishment. Last week he was in the school talent show. He told me he was going to audition but I thought he should pass. He tried out anyways.
He made it! Why couldn't he show his talent on the trumpet?
He burped the alphabet! Yes, he did!
I didn't even know he knew how to burp and talk. Well he does and it was hilarious!
Everyone loved it and laughed so hard, he was a HIT!
"That's my son, Mateo, I couldn't be more proud", I said!

Me, Bake?

Well I'm usually not one to bake, but I sure have been in the mood to try new recipes. I heard some ladies talking about Scotcheroo's... what are those?! So I tried making them and they are yummy and SWEET! Thanks Ande for the recipe!
Then I tried Chocolate Yummies. I changed the recipe a little and they made a great snack.
I also tried a Brownie Pie, it turned out great the first time but the 2nd time was horrible. The recipe didn't make enough so I added and the second time didn't get it right. :(
I usually leave the baking to Ken, he does so much better than I could ever do.

Here's the recipe for Scotcheroo's
1 cup sugar, 1 cup karo syrup, 1c. peanut butter
combine and melt in pan until creamy.
add 6 cups of rice crispies, mix well, press into
greased pan.
melt 1 c. of chocolate chips and 1/2 bag of butterschotch chips together.
pour on top of crispy mixture. let set, cut and serve.

Here's the recipe for chocolate yummies
1 6oz. pack of chocolate chips
1/3 cup butter or margarine
16 large marshmallows
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup of coconut
2 cups of rolled oats(I substituted golden grahams cereal)
in saucepan melt chocolate chips, butter and marshmallows. remove from heat. Stir vanilla, coconut and oats (grahams) mix well. Drop by tsp on waxed paper, let cool.

Next I'm going to try Churros, I found a recipe, wow!
I'm also going to try Coconut Macaroons, Yum!
I'll let you know how they turn out.

Sprinkler Fun!

I didn't take these, hence the blurriness!

Whoo Hoo!

I weighed in yesterday and I lost 6lbs! The thing is I got in a car accident 2 months ago and haven't been able to workout. So that was a shock! Well I'm back to workout and going strong. I missed my weekly routine!
The other good news is that if I lose 15lbs I'll be back to my pre-baby weight. Now that goal actually looks possible. It sure didn't 5 years ago.
So for all you girls out there saying or thinking you couldn't do that. If I can do it, so can you!
I use to be so over weight. It took 5 years but I did it. It's life changing and feels good!
Oh, yeah by the way I have a wedding to be in in August so I'm planning on fitting in a cute dress!
My goal is set!

This was our weekend!

Trying to keep Christina busy.
Kenny's band review.
Kenny's crew.
Whatever will keep Christina busy.
Mateo's baseball game.

Should I Even Tell...SHH!

Well I just found out that my son has a "girlfriend", his first! I knew something was going on. I kept trying to get him to spill the beans, but no budge! It was funny to bring up her name and watch him laugh it off with his friends. I can't believe this day is here. Heaven help me!
I kept him from getting a girlfriend for awhile by telling him, "You don't want that drama"!
I knew eventually he would give in to the pressure of being like everyone else. I just hope he sticks to what I taught him.
Wow, I'm getting way ahead of myself. AGH, what's next?

Busy, Busy, BUSY!

I haven't even had time to pee (sorry for such foul language)! That's how busy I've been. These past three weeks I've been trying to keep my house clean. We"re renting and it's up for sale. I've had someone come by everyday to look at the house. Talk about an inconvenience. Do you know how hard it is to keep a house clean with a two year old, who loves to make a mess, two pre-teens that live for baseball and video games? Yes, I know you do, I'm just complaining.
This last week especially was crazy! We had games all week, Kenny's first marching band performance, a science project and Ken had a side job to fit into the schedule.
Kenny marched in his first review this past weekend. I remember my first, scary! I was in AU for Armijo HS. Boy did I mess up! Kenny is playing the trumpet and he did great. Their school took first in everything but drumline. He also is apart of the jazz band and they took first. They sounded great!
Mateo had a science project due on the egg drop. I thought it would be pretty simple but the teachers notes were confusing! I was up till 1am putting it together, made sure he got to school and passed out! Isn't always the parents doing most of the work!
Oh, yeah one of my brothers got engaged recently! So I've also been helping to plan that wedding in August in my spare time. I'll be taking their engagement photos soon. I'll post them when they're done. I'm also going to be a bridesmaid, AGH! Better hit the gym! This will be my first wedding party. Bitter, sweet! I always thought my first would be with my BFF from HS. She's still hasn't found MR. Right! Hurry up girl!
Well I finally posted, it's been forever!
I'll try to do better!

AGH!!

I went to the bathroom to do my hair, turned on the hair straightner, waited for it to get hot.
In the mean time; wash my face, brush my teeth, get dressed,
chase Christina out of the boys bedroom.
Okay, it has to be ready. Well it was COLD! I check the plug, red button thing, make sure the ON button is ON!
Nothing! I couldn't fix my hair today. I'm waiting for my Hubby to come home and hopefully fix it. He usually says,"You've gotta be smarter than the iron"! At least that's what he better say, because I hope I don't have to go buy a new one. I've only had it for two years and it cost a lot of $!
So if anyone has a brand that they love and saved $ on let me know!

It's Amazing...

What you can find out!
I've been wanting to start our family history/tree for awhile. Last year we had a family get together at my In-Laws and we asked tons of questions; Who's-Who, Where did they live, etc...
I finally got an answer of where they originated from; Germany, Norway and Okinawa, Japan(already new that one-given).
My husband comes from a 2 brother family, along with his Dad (2 brothers). Then we found out that great-grandpa came from a huge family. My Mother-In-Law comes from a large family as well. Why'd they stop the big family tradition, who knows!
I'm glad I was able to keep my hubby away from the 2 brother tradition!
I recently found out that I had a great-grandma that's name was Christina also. Meant to be!
I found out that Ken has a cousin named Mariko, in Japan, that I'm now emailing to. I almost named Christina that!
It's been so much fun learning about the other side. My Mom's side has been worked on for awhile and now I'm going to help my Dad work on his side.
Kenny recently went to the Oakland Temple and did some family work! He said it felt great!
Now I just need to work on that journal. So that one day my grand-kids will and can read about me and my past. Grand-kids, wow, that'll be the day!

Feelin' Good!

Conversation between cashier and myself;
Cashier: "May I see your Id please"?
Me: "Sure"
Cashier: (staring for a long timeat card-looks at me)
"Did you lose weight"?
Me: (laugh) "why, yes I did, thanks for noticing"!
Cashier: "Well you look great, good for you"!
Made my day! I'll have to find an old pic of me, 30lbs heavier, and scan it!

Memories

So I was watching ICARLY(on Nick) last night, I just love that show! I crack up through the whole thing! It's about two BFFs and they got into an argument. They eventually made up and remember when and how they became best friends. They were in elementary and had an argument. It was like deja vu. My friend Jan and I became friends in the 3rd grade. My family had just moved to Louisiana and my English teacher put me in her chair. Jan came over and said,"Get out of my chair", I said, "No the teacher put me here"!
We had a little disagreement and soon became BFFs! We've continued to keep in touch. Even though we don't get to talk much we sure do appreciate our long lasting friendship.
Wow, that episode brought back memories for me!

Banged Up And Bruised

So let's talk about my Thursday afternoon...
It all began when we(Christina & Mateo) were enjoying the warmth of the sun. We decided to play ball, ride scooters/bikes and just enjoy being outside. We finally decided it was time to eat lunch, so I get up and go to the door and it WON'T OPEN! We've locked ourselves out!
NO, are you joking?!
(I'm thinking; I know I left it unlocked, who locked the door, why would I have keys on me-I'M IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE!)
I call Hubby @ work and he's in a training class.
I call my SWEET Brother-In-Law and ask him kindly to come help.
I call my Son @ school to see if he has his key-he doesn't!!
AGH!
So my brother-in-law tries to find a way in but no luck. (Now it is my security screen door)
He decides that if his friend pulls the door far enough he can get his arm in.
I say,"You better just go get the key from my hubby"!
Amazingly they get me in!
So how did I get banged up and bruised?
Well I was riding the kids scooter as I waited to get in my house and hit a crack.
Crash, Tumble and Slam to the ground!
Okay, so the bruise I'll make short. I played volleyball that night up at church and pulled a muscle in my forearm and got smacked in the face by the ball!
Can you say, Loser, Old Lady!!
Sorry for the long story! It had to be told!

Bad Mom Alert!

Note: Mom don't read this!
Caller: Mrs. Rayna, this is the nurse, Kenny is sick. Can you pick him up?

Me: What? (thinking; I just walked in the door, he has a game tonight, maybe I can make it to mutual, too sick to stay at school)
Okay, I'll be right there!
So I got the other two back in the car, put lunch on hold and drove. While I'm driving, hoping that he's faking it or he better be super sick!
*See Kenny calls a lot for me to pick him up. Usually I can talk him into staying because the boys know if they come home there's no games (video or baseball).*
Well I get there and he has throw up all over him! Poor guy! My poor baby is REALLY sick! Tell me why then four hours later he's at his game! BAD MOM, BAD MOM! I broke my own rule!

Free Rice.Com

So I kept hearing about Freerice.com I just didn't have the time to check it out, till today.
My son Mateo used two words today that you wouldn't normally hear from a 10 year old.
Don't worry they weren't bad, they were just a great use of vocabulary. I told Mateo about the site and we decided to check it out. We are now hooked!

What is it you say? This website has you play a vocabulary game and as you get words right you earn grains of rice. The rice is then given to needy families.
Play a little game, learn something new, help needy families...plus,Plus,PLUS!
Check it out!

Opening Day!

Is finally here! Let the games begin!
Today we start our little league games. Kenny 12 (second and last season in the majors) is playing for the A's, first game at 12:30. Mateo 10 (third season in the minors) is playing for the Sidewinders, game at 3pm.
Starting today we will be living at the baseball fields, literally! If there's not a game there's practice. Not to mention Ken's games in between. Monday thru saturday we live and breathe baseball.
You'll usually catch me complaining about all the practices, driving, etc... But I love to watch my guys play ball!
Kenny has been doing great at pitching! I love to see him strike a batter out!
Mateo is an amazing ball player. Every year he is improving. I love to watch them grow!
Everyone and I mean EVERYONE loves to watch Ken play ball! He can show anyone how a real ball player should catch, hit, slide and take out the catcher! Oh, yeah he gets dirty!
Well I'll try to post pics soon! So if you can't find me, guess where I'll be!
PLAY BALL!
